The flowers are purplish-pink, with brighter veining towards the centre and a paler, silvery tinge towards the edge of the large, delicate, papery, crinkly petals. The flowers as a whole fades to lilac-pink as they age. The strong and sweetly scented flowers are fully double and loosely quartered, with a mass of frilly petals through which the stamens are quite visible when fully open.The flowers are produced once in a season and are borne singly or in clusters of up to seven, followed by orange hips. The foliage is healthy, ribbed, pale grey-green; and is almost thornless with a lax habit. Plant in any well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter in sun. Also, use mycorrhizal fungi 'Rootgrow' in your planting hole. These are friendly fungi that attach themselves to roots for the purpose of accessing available nutrients for plants.
