Nyjer is an oil and energy-rich seed similar to that of teasels, and a favourite bird food with species such as greenfinches and siskins and particularly goldfinches. Nyjer seed flows like sand, so we recommend using a nyjer seed feeder with small ports to prevent excessive seed loss and a seed tray to catch any seed which does blow out. Please note, providing this specialised seed can only attract goldfinches to your garden if they are already present in your local area.
